Privacy notice

Last updated 20 October 2026.

This notice explains what the private individual who operates MQuant (“the operator”) does with personal information. The operator is not a company. This website itself does not create accounts and does not ask for a card.

1. Who is responsible

The operator is the person to contact about information described here: [email protected]. There is no separate data-protection office.

2. This website

These pages are static. They do not set analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or a tracking pixel. Your browser may still talk to the host that serves the files.

The host (currently a static-site host, with Cloudflare in front of the domain) can record ordinary connection logs: IP address, user agent, the page requested, and the time. Those logs are used to keep the site online, to debug outages, and to resist abuse. They are not sold and they are not used to build an advertising profile.

3. Email

If you write to [email protected], the operator keeps the message, your address, and the reply for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of a complaint or a refund request. You can ask for that correspondence to be deleted when it is no longer needed, subject to any record the operator must keep.

4. If a subscription is bought through Paddle

Paddle is the merchant of record for a paid checkout. Paddle, not the operator, collects the card number, processes the charge, and calculates tax. Read Paddle’s own privacy notice for that processing. The operator does not receive your full card number.

Paddle may share with the operator: the email address used at checkout, the plan, the country, the subscription status, and a customer reference. That information is used only to recognize access, to answer a support question, and to handle a cancellation or refund request. It is not sold.

5. The notebook, if you use it

If you later sign in to the research notebook on a separate address, that application may store the email tied to access, plan limits, and technical logs of runs (for example instrument symbols and timestamps). It is not designed to collect government identity numbers. Do not send identity documents by email unless the operator has asked for a specific check and you agree.

6. Why this processing happens

Where a European or UK-style rule applies, the matching reasons are: steps you asked for before a contract, a contract (the license), and the operator’s legitimate interest in keeping a small site secure and answering mail. You can object to a legitimate-interest use that is not required to provide the notebook.

7. How long

Connection logs follow the host’s ordinary retention, typically days to a few months. Support email is kept while a thread is open and for a short archive after that. Billing status received from Paddle is kept for the life of the subscription and for a limited period afterward so a tax or refund question can still be answered.

8. Sharing

Information is shared only with: the host that serves these files; Cloudflare, if it proxies the domain; email delivery used to read support mail; and Paddle, when you choose their checkout. A disclosure may also happen if the law requires it. The operator does not sell personal information.

9. International access

The operator may read email from outside your country, and the host or Paddle may store data in other countries. Where a transfer rule requires a safeguard, the operator relies on the mechanism the provider offers (for example standard contractual clauses) or on the fact that you asked for the service.

10. Your requests

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export personal information the operator holds, or to complain to a local authority. Write to [email protected]. Payment records held only by Paddle must be requested from Paddle.

11. Children

The notebook is not for anyone under 18. The operator does not knowingly collect information from children.
